SIL International initiates the celebration of 2019, International Year of Indigenous Languages
SIL International, Mexico Branch is pleased to include in their end of year card, the Spanish version of UNESCO’s 2019 International Year of Indigenous Languages logo, proclaimed by United Nations.
Sharing the special logo for this year in our Christmas message wishing health, peace and joy and also our invitation to celebrate with our indigenous groups the International Year of Indigenous Languages which will be hand delivered to the groups we visit every year. These groups are in the areas of: government, academia, libraries and linguists at Mexico City’s main universities besides distinguished Mexican friends among others. It will provide an excellent opportunity to promote, support and value Mexico’s mother tongue languages spoken by approximately 16 million people.
Our message will also seek opportunities to partner and celebrate joint events and activities throughout the year.
