KULTURANG BUKIDNON

The activity was a requirement for our Language and Culture class. We were required to host a segment on cultures that are found within the province. Our topic was High and Low context cultures. So my partner and I discussed High and Low context, we gave the definition and examples, after that we determined the High and low context  cultures in Bukidnon. We pointed out that our Brothers from the tribes or as we call them “Lumad” are high context cultures, since they give way to silence and rely on gestures that have meanings. They don’t really talk much and they have rituals for certain activities. While the low context cultures are the people from the city that speak “Bisaya” or “cebuano” these speakers are very vocal and it comes to a point where they can only express themselves in speech and not in action, these people are very out going and sometimes very loud.

That is what we tackled in the program, also during the duration of the program we were required to speak in “Bisaya” as to cater the listeners of the city.
