The Bukidnons are one of the traditionalistic ethnic groups in the southern Philippines. They inhabit the north-eastern part of Mindanao, the second largest island of the archipelago. The term “Bukidnon” mountain dweller was derived from the Cebuano language but nowadays, it is accepted by most members of the ethnic group referred to The Bukidnons are one of the traditionalistic ethnic groups in the southern Philippines. There are seven different tribes in the province namely: Talaandig, Higa-onon, Bukidnon, Umayamnon, Matigsalug, Manobo and Tigwahanon. The tribes in the province of Bukidnon are indigenous and their names are derived from the rivers/ watershed areas that they inhabited. Through our subject we feature On Air “Kulturang Bukidnon” different genres of songs and the most important means of musical expression in Bukidnon is ang Vocal Music, under Vocal Music which are the following Limbay, Sala,Idangdang, ,Kaligaon,og Tabok.Limbay is a lyric poetry sung to express the singer’s anguish and inner feelings.Sala is a song used to express feeling of love to the opposite sex.Idangdang is a ballad song usually to recall past historic events. Kaligaon is a ceremonial songs which calls upon the deities. The voice must be golden mellow. Lastly, Tabok is the songs during the kaligaan which are always sung by ladies who usually dance the dugso during the occasion.
