“Kulturang Bukidnon” is a Filipino translation of Bukidnon culture. Basically, the program is named in Filipino term so that it can be easily understood by the prioritized audience who are the ICCs in Bukidnon. ICC means Indigenous Cultural Community. The ICCs are referred to the seven tribes in Bukidnon namely Bukidnon, Tigwahanon, Talaandig, Umayamnon, Manobo, Matigsalog, Higaonon.
“Kulturang Bukidnon” on air program is created not because there is no action on preserving indigenous culture, but because the action with regards in addressing this matter is not yet fully developed. So, since school is a perfect platform in making the people, particularly students, to develop cultural sensitivity, Kulturang Bukidnon provides a school-based radio program focusing on Bukidnon Culture. It also develops culture-sensitivity toward ICCs and depicts a positive image of the seven tribes in Bukidnon.
This program has three objectives. First, it provides a basic understanding of the indigenous of the seven ethnic groups in Bukidnon. Second, it produces basic expressions of Binukid translated to English. And lastly, it presents a various Binukid literary pieces.
