Dear Jakarta Language Enthusiasts,

What do you know about South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, and Gorontalo province?
Else than the fact that one of our national hero, Prince Hasanuddin, hailed from South Sulawesi?
Othen than Southeast Sulawesi is where the world-famous Wakatobi National Park located?
Or that Gorontalo province is the result of region expansion from North Sulawesi province?

Do you know that one of the oldest and largest literary works originated in Sulawesi?
Or that Sulawesi Island’s beaches are as beautiful as those in Bali Island?
Or that you don’t have to go far to Maldives or Red Sea to see whale shark as it can be found in the northern water of Sulawesi Island?
Or that the second biggest karst mountain range after the on in Guangzhou, PRC, is located in Sulawesi Island?

In the fifth Language Exchange Meetup of Langlang Buana Nusantara series, Polyglot Indonesia Jakarta Chapter, in collaboration with Ikatan Mahasiswa Sulawesi Selatan UI (IMSS UI), Gabungan Putra-Putri Sulawesi Tenggara UI (GAPURA UI), and Himpunan Mahasiswa Gorontalo UI (HIMAGO UI) will present to you unique facts about South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, and Gorontalo province!
Our friends from IMSS UI, GAPURA UI, and HIMAGO UI will also teach us their local ethnic language!

What are you waiting for?
Come and join us!

Indigenous languages matter for social, economic and political development, peaceful coexistence and reconciliation in our societies. Yet many of them are in danger of disappearing. It is for this reason that the United Nations declared 2019 the Year of Indigenous Languages in order to encourage urgent action to preserve, revitalize and promote them.
