Event overview The event will consist of an official introduction of the event's purpose and collaborators, three keynote speakers will share personal stories, and we will explore innovative ideas for greater belonging during breakout sessions. After a delicious lunch featuring global cuisine, we will wrap up with a panel discussion and small break out group discussions. Discussion streams Key elements of belonging and displacement especially as it related to all impacted women and girls in Los Angeles (Refugee, Immigrant, and Unhoused persons). Displacement or othering through Feminist Lens. (SDGs will be incorporated into the below.)

North American and Arctic Regional Meeting – The 2019 International Year of Indigenous Languages

The United Nations General Assembly’s mandate to UNESCO supports the development of regional events that will bring together international stakeholders and contribute to an ‘Indigenous Peoples’ Languages Outcome Document’, which will be considered by UNESCO and the UN General Assembly in late 2019. With this aim in mind, a Regional Meeting for North America and the Arctic will be held on the margins of HELISET TŦE SḰÁL – ‘Let the Languages Live’: International Indigenous Language Conference taking place from June 24 to 26 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Participants in the UNESCO regional meeting will also be able to participate in the events of the HELISET TŦE SḰÁL conference.
