Inauguration of O Foundation – Marginalized Community Council

O Foundation (OFDN), an Indian nonprofit that is involved in the conservation and growth of marginalized groups using Openness and technology is establishing the Marginalized Community Council, an online working group consisting of individuals and organizations that are working towards addressing some of the most vital issues that affect the various marginalized groups—speakers of indigenous and endangered languages, and groups that are marginalized because of geopolitical and socioeconomic reasons.

LT4All – International Conference on Language Technologies for All: Enabling Linguistic Diversity and Multilingualism Worldwide

With a view to provide access to information and knowledge to all language users and facilitate their inclusion and participation in building sustainable knowledge societies, UNESCO, in close cooperation with the Government of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Ugra (Russian Federation), the European Language Resources Association (ELRA) and its Special Interest Group on Under-resourced languages (SIGUL), and in partnership with UNESCO Intergovernmental Information for All Programme (IFAP) and the Interregional Library Cooperation Centre, as well as with support of other public organizations and sponsors, is organizing this conference with the title “Language Technologies for All: Enabling Linguistic Diversity and Multilingualism Worldwide” at its Headquarters in Paris, France from 4 to 6 December 2019.

Launch Fijian Language Week

"Living the language is the theme of the 2018 Fijian Language Week, which runs from October 7-13. This year is the final year of the theme – Noqu Vosa Me’u Bula Taka – My language, Learn it, Speak it, Live it, with a focus on immersing yourself in the language. Fijian Language Week 2018 was launched on October 6 at National Library in Wellington by Minister for Pacific Peoples Hon. Aupito William Sio and Associate Minister Hon. Carmel Sepuloni. There is also a series of other events happening, including the Fiji Day Festival in Mangere and Matua Day honouring senior citizens in Manukau. Regional events are also being held in Hamilton, Whanganui, Palmerston North, Wellington, and Christchurch throughout this week. Minister Sio says this is the sixth Fijian Language Week held in Aotearoa and it is great to see growing interest in revitalising the language."~MPP
