Kaamulan is from the Bukidnon term “amul-amul” which means “to gather”. It is yearly gathering of the seven tribes, namely the Talaanding, Tigwahanon, Matigsalug, Higaonon, Bukidnon, Manobo and Umayamnon, celebrated at Malaybalay City – the Capital City of Bukidnon. The celebration is not only to showcase the diverse culture of Bukidnon, but also to remind everyone about the humble roots of the “vegetable and fruit basket of Mindanao and culture preservation.
The month-long celebration started with a drum and lyre competition participated by the different Schools from Bukidnon. The opening of Kaamulan displayed different booths from different Cities and Municipalities of Bukidnon. Each of these booths presented their distinctive products that are either fruits, vegetables, native delicacies, cultured products, or handicrafts. The celebration was highlighted with activities like Ms. Q and A, Parade of Fantasies, Motocross, and Evening Band Presentations, and many more activities such as Laga ta Bukidnon and the Street Dancing and Ground, filling the Kaamulan spirit.
Dubbed as the only authentic ethnic festival in the Philippines, the City Government, as well as the Locals, is giving their 101% efforts to make the event that everyone should attend o witness the rich and vibrant culture of bukidnon.
