On December 14-16, the seminar «Language and Neighbors» of the project «SANA 2019: Civil Society Network for Preserving and Revitalizing Indigenous Finno-Ugric Languages» was held in the city of Kingisepp. Presentations demonstrated the central role of pre-school education, schools, local authorities, NGOs, museums, libraries, cultural centres, folklore ensembles and individual language activists in the preservation of ethnic identity and creation of friendly spaces for the development of indigenous languages. During the seminar, winners of the mini-grant competition held by the SANA 2019 project were announced. Cultural programme included Izhorian photo exhibition and cultural performances.

“Kulturang Bukidnon” is a thirty minute, four-times a month magazine type format radio program that deals with Bukidnon culture. This program focuses on three things. First, it provides a school-based radio program focusing on Bukidnon culture. Second, it develops culture-sensitivity the Indigenous Cultural Communities (ICC’s). And lastly, it depicts a positive image of the seven tribes in Bukidnon. These seven tribes are the Talaandig, Higa-onon, Bukidnon, Umayamnon, Matigsalug, Manobo and Tigwahanon. There are three objectives of the program. First, to provide a basic understanding of the indigenous culture of these seven ethnic groups in Bukidnon. Second, to produce basic expression of “Binukid” language translated to English. And third, to present various literary pieces.

Kulturang Bukidnon revitalizes the old-aged cultures and norms here in Bukidnon. It aims to fortify and preserve out cultural heritage for future generations to come
